Emoplux 2019

Emoplux 2019

Our association is actively preparing 2019, the seventh edition of the festival schedules the opening days during the second week of May ( 15-18th ). Key topic to be considered at this point is the representation of the body in contemporary photography featuring mainly female artists / photographers who question the traditional models.
Even if the majority of the exhibitions should be located again in the capital, including the Mudam, Casino Forum for Contemporary Art, MnHA and Cercle-Cité, the cities of Dudelange and Clervaux are expected partners again. Unfortunately Mrs Daniele Igniti of the City of Dudelange will retire, and there are no signs that both city galleries will provide the same high quality programming in the future. We will see.

We hope to have again on board on a larger scale the National Library, the National Archives and the Carré-Rotondes exhibition space or the Architects’ Foundation (LUCA).
On the side of private galleries, the situation looks grim with the closure of Wildproject and Sofronis. But  the regulars like Clairefontaine and Nosbaum & Reding will be on board again next to Valerius gallery, a new.-comer.
Let’s also mention our faithful sponsor the law firm Arendt & amp; Medernach which has proved over the years to be a reliable supporter. The firm provides substantial assistance not to mention the Arendt & amp; Medernach award for the European Month of Photography.
As far as our international partners are concerned, things seem to run smooth and festivals were held in Berlin, Budapest, Bratislava and Athens in autumn last year, Vienna is upcoming. A book project on the body in contemporary photography is about to be published in spring.
